Golf’s Coming Home as Ayrshire Hosts 152nd Open

Royal Troon Golf Course

The oldest golf tournament in the world returns to Royal Troon, just a few miles from Prestwick Golf Club, where it was first held in 1860. It is the 10th time the Championship has been held at the venue.

VisitScotland’s Regional Director Lynsey Eckford said: “We’re excited seeing Royal Troon host The 152nd Open which will bring in 250,000 spectators and once again put Ayrshire in the spotlight.

“The Open Championships brings huge economic and social benefits to Scotland and its host region, providing a boost to accommodation, hospitality, retail and attractions in the area.

“We’d encourage the spectators, players and tournament officials to get out and about and explore the region if they get the opportunity, and we hope to see golf enthusiasts return when Ayrshire stages the Women’s Scottish Open at Dundonald in August.”
