From here you can see stunning views around Loch Ness and the surrounding area. This is the B862 from Fort Augustus which is known as General Wade’s Military Road and is part of the Jacobite story. General Wade was sent from London by George I in 1724 to report on the Jacobite problem as they saw it. His answer was to build Forts throughout the highlands and build roads to join them so that the regiments could quickly deal with any risings and stamp them out before they became a bigger problem. This is one of those roads.
