VisitScotland welcomes opening of new Perth Museum
VisitScotland welcomes ‘historic day’ as new Perth Museum is set to open its doors.
The world-class cultural and heritage attraction, created following a £27 million development, will open to the public on Saturday, 30 March 2024.
The attraction will highlight the fascinating objects and stories that put Perth and Kinross at the centre of Scotland’s story. At its centrepiece is the Stone of Destiny, also known as the Stone of Scone, which returns to Perthshire for the first time in over 700 years.
Caroline Warburton, Destination Development Director at VisitScotland, said: “The opening of the new Perth Museum marks an historic day for the city. Weaving together the fascinating story of Perth’s place within the history of Scotland, and with the return of the Stone of Destiny to Perthshire, the museum will be a flagship attraction, bringing visitors into the city and region.
“Investment in attractions and visitor experiences is hugely important in boosting Perthshire’s visitor economy. They not only provide local opportunities for businesses and communities but enable the profile of the region to be raised on both the national and international stage.
“VisitScotland has worked closely with Culture Perth & Kinross, Perth & Kinross Council and many other partners to get to this special day, the opening of Perth Museum. We will continue to support the museum and other attractions in the city to keep Perth’s profile high, and I would like to extend my congratulations to everyone involved and invite all tourism businesses to join us in celebrating this important occasion.”
