Make It Yours
A new partnership approach to bring together representatives of the visitor economy in Ayrshire & Arran has begun a major marketing drive.
The Make It Yours social media campaign is being funded by The Coig, East, South, and North Ayrshire Councils through the Ayrshire & Arran Destination Alliance.
Adverts are running across Facebook showcasing the best the region has to offer, to attract visitors from Scotland this summer.
The campaign includes a series of images and video around the themes of luxury, family and calmness, to target audiences interested in restoring their wellbeing or treating themselves after a difficult year, as well as spending time reuniting with family and friends.
The adverts link through to a series of blog posts highlighting ’10 reasons to make Ayrshire your calm place’, ‘luxury experiences in Ayrshire and Arran’, ’12 reasons to make Ayrshire & Arran your place for a summer break’ and ‘days out with the kids in Ayrshire and Arran’ with helpful suggestions and examples of the region’s places to stay, what to see and do and eat and drink.
Digital articles feature on leading lifestyle magazine brands Red and Good Housekeeping to a UK wide audience, as well as banner adverts linking to The Coig’s blog post ‘12 reasons to make Ayrshire and Arran your place for a summer break’.
The activity is a result of the Ayrshire Visitor Economy Strategy Group (AVESG), a sub-group of the Ayrshire Economic Partnership, chaired by VisitScotland Chief Executive Malcolm Roughead. It includes tourism industry representation as well as representatives from North, South and East Ayrshire Councils, Scottish Enterprise, Ayrshire Chamber of Commerce, The Coig, VisitArran and the Scottish Tourism Alliance.
Over 100 businesses and industry organisations recently attended the first Ayrshire & Arran Destination Alliance virtual event. They are asking visitors to sign up to the region’s Visitor Promise to help make sure everyone can enjoy the area safely and protect places, people and the environment.
Gordon Smith, Regional Director, VisitScotland, said:
The Ayrshire Visitor Economy Strategy Group is bringing a fresh approach to creating a successful, collaborative and thriving environment for tourism across the region under the banner of the Ayrshire & Arran Destination Alliance and the Make It Yours campaign is a significant step for driving tourism success across the region. “
Daniel Steel, Chief Executive, The Coig, said:
In return, tourism businesses are working with communities to ensure that both visitors and communities feel supported through our visitor promise, to follow the guidelines and safely enjoy everything our region has to offer, treating it with the same care as they would their own community and look after our places, our people and our environment.”
