David Hume statue on The Royal Mile

David Hume, by artist Alexander Stoddart sits on The Royal Mile in front of the High Court Building in Edinburgh. Hume, a philosopher and historian who lived from 1711 to 1776, is one of the Scottish Enlightenment’s most famous and enduring figures, despite having never held an academic post due to his religious sentiments.
