Oban to welcome prestigious global sporting event

The Clipper Round the World Yacht Race is due to arrive in Oban this weekend (Saturday 13th July), stopping in Scotland for the first time in its 27-year history.

VisitScotland Regional Director, David Adams McGilp, said: “This is an important occasion for the communities in Oban and the wider Argyll and Isles. We are looking forward to welcoming the eleven teams and sailing enthusiasts to our region, to enjoy the spectacular coasts and waters which make it such a special place to enjoy marine and outdoor activities.

“EventScotland has provided support from the National Events Funding Programme to help host the Food & Drink Village, a key attraction at the Festival of the Sea. Our insights suggest nearly a quarter of visitors enjoy food and drink experiences while they are in Argyll and Isles and we hope teams and spectators enjoy sampling the local produce and hospitality.”
