The Fountain, Dumfries

The Fountain, Dumfries

The fountain which stands on Dumfries High Street was unveiled in 1882 by Provost Lennox. It was made by the Sun Foundry, Alloa and is one of only two models of its type known anywhere in the world. The fountain commemorates the supply of public drinking water to the town from nearby Lochrutton.
