Perth and Pitlochry iCentres help visitors celebrate Year of Stories 2022

Proxy

Visitors to Perth & Kinross are being invited to delve deeper into the region’s rich history and local legends, as part of the Year of Stories 2022.

The Themed Year aims to spotlight, celebrate and promote the wealth of stories inspired by, written, or created in Scotland.

With the holiday season in full swing and people venturing out to explore all that Perth & Kinross has to offer, VisitScotland’s iCentres are currently enjoying what is traditionally their busiest season.

Located on Perth High Street and in Pitlochry, friendly and knowledgeable staff are on hand to help visitors unearth some of the myths, legends and hidden gems associated with the local area.

History and heritage are among the top reasons that people visit Perth & Kinross, but as well as highlighting the region’s top attractions, iCentre staff are hoping this year will allow them to inspire both locals and visitors to discover some lesser-known tourism treasures

From dragons and witches to influential musicians and supernatural wonders, Perthshire is home to many fascinating stories, including:

“Between our two iCentres in Perth and Pitlochry, our staff have a wealth of experience welcoming visitors. We love nothing more than regaling them with a tale or two about some of the many interesting and unique stories in the region. It is often the more quirky and unusual details about local attractions and stories that visitors remember.

“We’re also always keen to hear from local businesses and community groups about how we can work together to promote new businesses, products and destinations to our visitors.

Our iCentres are an important part of the area and we are keen to work with other tourism businesses locally to ensure that returning visitors receive a warm welcome and get to see the best sites and attractions the region has to offer.”

The delivery of an exciting programme of special events is an important part of the Year of Stories. There are more than 300 events taking place across the country as part of the events programme. Look out for events such as Perth & Kinross Year of Stories (running now – Oct), Forgotten Folk, Finding the Stories at Innerpeffray (Aug- Sept), Blairgowrie and Rattray Arts for Wellbeing month (Aug) and The Legend of Kinnoull Dragon (12 Nov)

VisitScotland’s iCentre network can offer a platform for tourism businesses to connect directly with visitors. They can also host supplier events and offer a range of ticketing services, sales of local artisan products, as well as onward booking advice for visitors across Scotland.
