Malcolm Roughead, VisitScotland Chief Executive, said: “Whilst we look ahead with optimism to welcoming the return of international visitors to our country, travelling abroad looks like it will be difficult for some time to come. We would encourage people to choose Scotland as their holiday destination this summer and into the Autumn – not only is our country and all it offers a perfect destination for a post-lockdown holiday, but Scottish tourism needs our support. We will continue to work with, and support, businesses to ensure we rebuild this vital part of Scotland’s economy in a safe and responsible way. We’re focused on the recovery of the industry, building a destination and visitor experience which allows tourism and events to flourish now and in the future. “Tourism is a force for good – creating economic and social value in every corner of Scotland and enhancing the wellbeing of everyone who experiences it.”
