Fife and Angus play host to two of the key events in the women’s golf calendar, hosting the stars of the LPGA Tour and LET this month and showcasing two of Scotland’s most renowned golf regions to the world.
The Trust Golf Women’s Scottish Open is taking place at Dumbarnie Links (starts Thursday 12 August) followed by the AIG Women’s Open, the only women’s Major Championship to be played in the UK, at Carnoustie the following week.
While a small number of tickets will be made available to the local community for the Trust Golf Women’s Scottish Open, up to 8,000 spectators are permitted to attend the AIG Women’s Open, meaning it will be the first time spectators are able to purchase tickets to attend a women’s golf event in Scotland since The Solheim Cup was staged at Gleneagles in September 2019.
Fans wishing to attend the AIG Women’s Open should book their tickets in advance at aigwomensopen.com. Adult tickets start from £25 with children aged 16 years or under before the Championship admitted free of charge. Spectators aged 24 years or under will be entitled to purchase youth (16-24 years) tickets starting from £12.50. A £5 Mastercard discount is available per transaction.
The back-to-back world class women’s events outline Scotland’s commitment to supporting women’s golf and women’s sport on a global stage, building on the legacy forged by The 2019 Solheim Cup and Scotland’s long-term support of the two tournaments.
World-class fields with the best players in the women’s game will tee it up at Dumbarnie and Carnoustie, including 30 Olympians who turned out to represent their countries in Tokyo.
According to The National Tourism Organisation the economic value of golf tourism to Fife is around £50 million pounds, supporting 1,800 jobs. For Angus this equates to just under £20 million pounds and over 800 jobs. Overall, the economic value of golf tourism for the Scottish economy is £286 million worth of spending and 4,700 jobs.
VisitScotland’s Now is Your Time marketing campaign is currently underway, covering five themes; days out, short stays, city breaks, family gatherings and escape & connect experiences to benefit physical and mental wellbeing. Both the Trust Golf Women’s Scottish Open and the AIG Women’s Open will help showcase Scotland to domestic audiences and those further afield, supporting the restart of the golf tourism industry, which has been significantly impacted by the pandemic.
